Dan Barash

Lung Cancer Survivor

I’m fortunate to have great relationships with doctors and nurses at Winship who really are experts in lung cancer.

Dan Barash has stage IV lung cancer, but he counts himself lucky because of his team of “superhero” care providers. While he sought a second opinion at another cancer center, he chose Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University because of the team’s collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to cancer care.

Dan’s lung cancer team used genetic testing to determine the best treatment individualized for his cancer. While surgery is not usually used for people with advanced lung cancer, in Dan’s case, surgery was important to his treatment plan. Now, he feels well and is enjoying work, travel, and most importantly time with his family.

Early lung cancer screening detects cancer & helps catch a tumor before it spreads. Medicare & many private insurance companies cover screening for lung cancer.  Learn more about Emory’s Lung Cancer Screening Program and Lung CT Screening qualifications.
